The terrible death of their 6-year-old daughter Lucy Morgan in an odd accident while on vacation has left her family in New Jersey in despair.
While Lucy was watching her family play badminton, the incident happened.
A fragment of metal from the handle of the racquet broke off during a downward swing during the game, striking Lucy in the skull and severely injuring her brain.
Pastor Jesse Morgan, Lucy’s father, revealed the tragic events on his blog, New Creation Living. He described how their family vacation in Limerick, Maine began on June 1st, just like any other day. But the day took a tragic turn, and he now feels his little girl is in the arms of Jesus.
The gravity of Lucy’s injuries was rapidly grasped by the family. Jesse detailed on his blog how Lucy was instantly unconscious but continued to breathe on her own after the metal fragment impacted her. Lucy was taken by ambulance to a tiny hospital and then evacuated to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where her spouse, Bethany Morgan, accompanied her. They were aware that Lucy’s life was in jeopardy.
As soon as she arrived, she was taken straight to the operating room, where a portion of her skull was removed to relieve pressure and treat her injury. Jesse posted on his blog, “She coded, they got her back, and they finished the procedure. “We are informed in the PICU that her chances of recovery are extremely low.”
Jesse Morgan revealed that his daughter had just declared her wish to be in God’s presence. Lucy told her parents she wanted to be rescued and live with God just one month prior to the disaster. Lucy asked her mother if she was saved, Jesse writes, and after they had a little chat, Lucy went to her room to pray.
“She went to her chamber and prayed, confessing her faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus to God for forgiveness. How lovely,” he wrote.
Despite receiving treatment, Lucy’s injury never fully healed. Jesse clarified that the metal fragment had punctured her skull, causing severe harm. The family was told by the doctors that she was not expected to live.
Today there will be no blog entry. Lucy Lynn Morgan died this morning at four in the morning. She can now see Jesus directly. We appreciate all of your love that you have shown us. This photo was taken during the morning’s farewells.

“The significant lack of brain function over the past 48 hours demonstrates this reality that we are utterly devastated by,” he wrote the day before she passed away. The good news here is that she hasn’t experienced any pain in the last three days.
“We will not stop pleading with God for a miracle, seeking second opinions, and going through all the options while waiting on the Lord,” he continued. But over the past two days, our cherished daughter has been exhibiting all the symptoms of brain death. It’s highly likely that she dies and meets Jesus in the next day or two.
Following this tragedy, the family has seen an outpouring of love and support. Many lovely comments about Lucy and her family were posted on social media. In a Facebook post, Jesse Morgan’s old professor Dan Cruver praised Jesse’s character.
When I was a Bible and theology professor at Clarks Summit University eighteen years ago, Jesse Morgan was one of my students. I can recall quite a few students, but some stand out in your memory because they often interacted with you after class and had intelligent, perceptive questions,” the student wrote. “Jesse was among those pupils.”
In order to help the family, friends and family set up a GoFundMe page, which has raised almost $125,000 toward its new goal of $130,000 and has already surpassed its $100,000 initial target.
“This page serves as a place to provide them extravagant financial support- to help pay for meals while they are away from home, lodging for family, medical costs… whatever they need,” organizer Jill Anthony stated in her post.
An update was provided by Anthony: “Lucy went to be with the Lord on June 5.” Please remember the Morgan family in your prayers as they navigate the upcoming days, weeks, months, and years without their beloved Lucy at their side.
At this sad moment, our thoughts are with the Morgan family.
