Black Couple Adopts Three White Kids, Saying ‘Families Don’t Have to Match’

A married couple thought they would never become more than uncle and aunt after multiple failed efforts at conception. However, one day they received an unexpected call that improved their life.

Being happy as a parent is a rare and valuable experience that many couples long for throughout their lives. Fostering and adoption can be a bright light in this situation, providing individuals with the opportunity to complete their family.

Adoption is a constant possibility, and nontraditional families can be just as lovely as traditional ones. The tale of Sadie and Jarvis Sampson demonstrates that love is the only thing that can bring people together.

Absent on the Family Vacation

It all started when the Sampsons’ fatigue from work caused them to skip a four-day family cruise to Mexico. Two weeks before, Sadie had started a new job; a few weeks earlier, her husband had started a new job.

Sadie discovered she had neglected to bring her younger sister’s life jacket before leaving. Since she was also going on the trip, she decided to drop off her sister’s jacket at her aunt’s house after driving to her house and grabbing it.

Her best buddy sent her a message when she was traveling. Would Sadie and Jarvis be interested in adopting or fostering a child? she inquired.Sadie was hesitant since she believed it would be more expensive than IVF. But her acquaintance had more information to impart.

Having Trouble Becoming a Parent

“Well, my buddy and her boyfriend are thinking about placing their son for adoption or foster care. Sadie’s friend replied, “I told them that I thought you guys would be a great fit (sic).” The Sampsons knew all too well what it was like to long to be parents.

The woman’s adoption choices brought her criticism, from being called a “kidnapper” to treating White children better.

Following their January 2018 wedding, the couple had been actively attempting to become pregnant. They took care of everything: from prenatal vitamins and ovulation testing to fertility monitors and cycle monitoring applications.Unfortunately, nothing was successful.

The Unexpected Phone Call

Following several negative pregnancy tests, they went to the doctor. All the doctors Sadie saw would tell her to lose weight or she would get pregnant straight away. Sadie had a gastric bypass surgery in February 2019 and lost 28 pounds in the first month following the procedure.

However, the Sampsons were still not pregnant after numerous visits to the OBGYN and fertility specialists. They eventually gave up, believing themselves to be uncle and aunt solely. A week later, Sadie was approached once more by her friend, then by a caseworker.

While Sadie was receiving therapy, the caseworker informed her that the birth mother had requested if they would be willing to foster the child for a period of six to twelve months.Despite their worry of becoming attached to the boy, the Sampsons decided to take him in.

Having Children Suddenly

The caseworker called the couple again shortly after and informed them that the birth mother wanted them to adopt the child. Jarvis and Sadie were in disbelief. In an instant, they had gone from being childless to fostering a child and eventually being parents.

The Sampsons then learned that the child’s biological parents want a separate adoption. As a result, they gave their lawyer a call and had the required documents prepared right away. Sadie then made the decision to tell her mother the wonderful news.

“A GRANDMA IS GOING TO BE YOU!”We are adopting a 2-week-old boy, and we received a call about him,” said Sadie. She heard her mom joyfully bounce. Sadie and Jarvis went to meet their child after the birth parents signed the paperwork.

Greetings, Little Ezra

For the first time, they saw their kid when they drove to the hospital’s NICU. At 33 weeks, he was delivered seven weeks ahead of schedule, weighing four pounds, five ounces. The infant, who fit into one of Jarvis’s hands, was tiny and covered in a blanket.

The infant had a feeding tube coming out of his nose due to his preterm birth. Sadie and Jarvis balanced their jobs and spent the rest of the day at the hospital caring for the baby. The day finally arrived for him to stop using his feeding tube.

It was said to the Sampsons that they might bring him home. Following the physicians’ advice, they took their happy little bundle of joy home. After the adoption of Ezra Lee was completed in October 2020, he brought joy and love into the lives of his adoptive parents.

Families Are Not Required to Match

The Sampsons knew their challenge as parents as they welcomed young Ezra into the world. The newlyweds started sharing their experience on social media, expressing their immense gratitude for their kid.

Through embryo donation, Sadie and Jarvis became parents to twin twins, Journee and Destinee, in 2021. The black couple, adhering to their family credo, “Families don’t have to match,” gave birth to three white children: two girls and one boy.

For everyone who criticizes or speaks ill of their lovely family, Sadie and Jarvis just have one message: love is the strongest foundation of all.

Love Is Greater Than Everything Else

Adopting children of a different race might draw unwarranted attention from others, as well as hurtful remarks. Similar to Sadie and Jarvis, a Connecticut-based black woman faced criticism after adopting two white brothers.

The woman’s adoption choices brought her criticism, from being called a “kidnapper” to treating White children better. However, she demonstrated to the world that love is immune to racial prejudice by acting with true maternal affection.
